Study in Saudi Arabia

While honoring its centuries-old traditions, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is actively reimagining its future. Its aim is to bring to life a socio-cultural environment where local heritage intersects with ambitious national growth.

At first glance, our nation may seem quite formal, but you’ll soon find Saudi Arabia to be a place where hospitality is part of daily life. From warm greetings and customary signs of respect to the thoughtful serving of Arabic coffee and dates as a welcoming gesture, Saudi Arabia reflects a culture where making others feel valued is second nature.

The KSA is also quite well-known for its role in global energy but has been rapidly expanding its footprint across other industries such as technology, tourism, sports, and entertainment. With over SAR 71 billion ($19 billion) in foreign direct investment in 2024 alone, our nation has gained a steady, upward momentum. Given its 8 UNESCO World Heritage sites or the growing number of international eateries, both local and international students have countless ways to engage in a truly metropolitan lifestyle.

Also, while you might not expect it, Saudi Arabia’s landscape is quite diverse. As one of the top 15 largest countries in the world and the biggest in the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC), it offers more than reddish windswept sand dunes. Here, you'll find stunning mountain vistas in the north and shorelines on both coasts, specifically the Red Sea to the west and the Arabian Gulf to the east. During academic holidays or long weekends, you may plan a trip to go snorkeling in the Red Sea, explore the rock formations of the northern Al Ula city, or go off-road four-wheeling in the Rub Al Khali desert. You may also spend time exploring Jeddah’s charming old neighborhoods, attend the F1 Grand Prix, experience the energy of music festivals in the capital of Riyadh, or visit NEOM, the ambitious Saudi giga-project redefining world destinations.

City Life in the Eastern Province

A major urban center in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia and the home of KFUPM, Dhahran, and its neighboring cities of Khobar and Dammam, make for a great base to explore the Gulf region and beyond. King Fahd International Airport (DMM) connects you to global destinations, while the nearby Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, and Oman offer distinct regional experiences easily accessible by road or air.

Dhahran’s modern city scape includes entertainment spaces, healthcare facilities, international schools, and cultural landmarks like the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra). Ithra itself features exhibitions, live performances, and a library that attracts visitors from across the region. Cafes, movie theaters, and retail outlets abound, all ideal for study breaks or weekend exploration. With this constantly stimulating environment, life in Dhahran offers both convenience and cultural diversity, making it an appealing place to live, study, or work.
