The programs of the College of Engineering and Physics are designed to meet the challenges of the 21st century through the enhancement of students' preparation for professional careers, life-long learning, and responsible participation as members of society. Emphasis is placed on religious, general, and sociological education to make today's engineer aware of environmental, sociological, and other "human concerns" in addition to safety, aesthetics, economics and the cost of energy in their decision-making. Clear and precise communication skills, oral and written, are required of the engineer who delivers judgments, plans and decisions. A sound knowledge of engineering and related disciplines is required so that the engineer can work effectively with other engineers, scientists and technicians, in fulfilling engineering assignments.
